Over All Condition: Fair To Good Cosmetic Appearance Relative To Age & Use Slide Operates Freely (IMPORTANT: Please read all information, including terms of sale, for further details.) Approximate Dimensions: 7" Bell Diameter 46" Over All Length When Joined This trombone was acquired recently at a bankruptcy auction at Bennigan's restaurant in Ann Arbor Michigan. The horn was part of the wall decor, put in place in 1982. Only the case was screwed to the wall. The horn is undamaged in this regard. Please rely on the photos provided, what visual description I am able to offer, but primarily use your own better knowledge and expertise in making your bidding evaluations. I make a point of finding interesting items to present in this auction format, but I'm not always aware of the finer points. Ask questions when need be. Beyond an initial, light cleaning for this presentation this item is being presented just as I found it and is sold "as is". There are a few notable dents and several others that are insignificant and simply to be expected with use and age, (see photos). Most of the dents are relatively shallow, nothing is crushed or dented so severly that it would impede the functionality of the instrument. The casing of the slide has a few tiny dimple dents, very shallow, none interupting the smooth flow of the slide moving in and out. The bell of the horn has retained its round shape. There is some loss of lacquer and areas that have taken on a very light amount of surface rust. I will leave it up to you how to best treat the cleaning and refurbishing of the trombone. Other scuffs and scratches abound throughout the instrument's surface. The case had been screwed into the wall at two or three points with long drywall screws. The holes are small and the case is solid. The exterior shows much wear and age. There is no mouthpiece to include. I believe you will find this instrument to be worthy of whatever effort is needed to improve its appearance and bring it to its full playing potential. The packaged shipping weight is 12 pounds. Great Slide Action Edwards was formed in the pro shop of Getzen back in the early 90's and very quickly caught on with the symphony pros and those that could afford it. They were the first custom shop to offer choices of bells, valve sections leadpipes and slides. You could build a horn to fit what you were looking for in your playing. I bought my first Edwards in 1994 and was astounded at the quality control. The first thing you notice is that the slide is everything you have wished for and never had. Tubes are round and straight. It is then assembled and everything fits. What you get is a slide so good that you could use it dry. With Slide O Mix, it is super fast smooth free and quiet. You will be impressed. Edwards was also the first to put Thayer or Axial valves on their trombones. All I can say is that valved and nonvalved notes sound the same. No more adjusting for consistancy. Three leadpipes come with this one to color your tone as you desire, another Edwards first. Finally, this one comes with a red brass 334CF bell. I am a red brass fan so I love it. I would describe it as a warm dark sound that holds together at volume. I have emailed Edwards to ask the specs and will add them when I hear back. The slide is dual bore. I was a bit concerned about how it would feel, but felt no difference as far as air requirements. It is certainly an open blow. I felt the same in the upper register that I do on my straight .547. The bottom may have been a bit bigger and more open. There are no dents on this one and no sign that any have been removed. I think it was well taken care of. Lacquer finish shows wear on the hand contact area of outer slide and where the neck rubs. Rest of horn is all but perfect. It is a beauty to play and a beauty to behold.
