This is a VERY NICE Olds P24G professional bass trombone. This one is sometimes referred to as the "George Roberts" model, but that isn't quite true.
Free World Wide Shipping We've only had two of these in the last ten years! Spectacular Like New Rare 1963 F E Olds O-115 Golden Brass OPERA Fanfare Trombone New Holton Case Included FREE SHIPPING?FREE CASE?GET IT TODAY! About This Horn: You will have to go a long way to find an OPERA in as perfect a condition as this one. This trombone is in immaculate like-new condition. The horn has been completely refurbished and is in what we believe to be its original factory specifications. It has also been sterilized. From the rubber tip at the end of the slide, to the graceful flare of its bell, all has been scrutinized. The nickel silver inner slides have been completely re-plated. All valves, springs and moving parts are either new or in superb working order. Both the tuning and playing slides work without hesitation. It has no creases, scratches, dents, no dings, oops or owies! No wear or loss of plating, not a mark on the sleeves. Not even a scratch. The lacquer is 100%. The horn is circa 1963 (serial # 401,xxx). The tuning crooks moves effortlessly. The slide is very fast with excellent compression and allows the player to achieve remarkable slide vibrato with simple ease. The range of the horn is also remarkable. It handles both low and high tones very well and is one of the most responsive instruments I have played. It is an excellent horn for orchestra, symphonic band, jazz or small combo professional work. The inner slides are in new condition. The slide action is very good. The outer tube falls under its own weight when held at a slight angle. It has very good compression. The horn has a very bright yet full sound that results in a "dark sound" normally associated with heavy bells, without the corresponding weight. This horn has a single bore .547 and an 8.5" bell, with a luxurious tone that is rich, powerful and mellow. ABOUT THIS MODEL: The Opera Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 models are professional symphonic horns. Professional musicians tell me that this version is the only tenor trombone, either modern or vintage that allows the player to soar over all the sections of the orchestra without the aid of an F attachment. The golden brass Fanfare model is very rare, as most musicians of the day preferred the nickel silver version. THIS IS A RARE AND MUCH SOUGHT AFTER TROMBONE This is simply a perfect professional instrument and a near perfect investment quality trombone. This horn will walk all over most anything coming out of trombone factories today, including Yamaha, Getzen, Martin, Holton and even the Bach. This is still one of the best horns around, and the pros all know it! About the FE Olds Company: FE Olds and Sons was known for master craftsmanship of brass instruments through out the first half of the twentieth century. Starting as a manufacturer of Trombones in the early 1900's. Olds was responsible for many of the modernizing elements of trombone design. They took extreme pride in their work! They invented the "fluted tube", pioneered design elements and bell materials and were right at the forefront of musical instrument manufacture. In the 1950's they began an intensive program of distribution of student level instruments, known for their sturdy construction and good tonal quality. Many of us "boomers" learned to play the trombone in school bands across America on an Olds! The combination of their intense desire for quality, which led to higher costs, and a disaster fire, which destroyed many of their templates and mandrels, put them out of business. Since then, both collectors and players have searched out mint and fine quality Olds horns. They are some of the finest available today! I hope that you are as excited about obtaining this horn as I am in offering it. If you care about quality, and don't want junk or somebody else's worn out instrument, then this is the horn for you. Our wonderful customers leave us enthusiastic feedback, and we appreciate every word! Visit our feedback to see some of the comments such as: "Superb trombone. Here is an Olds "The Bear" trombone with hardcase. It is in very good condition for its age. The finish shows some wear but looks nice overall. It is a great playing horn - the slide action works like a new horn. Tuning slide and H2O key work properly. It is an excellent high quality, vintage pro-model trombone. It comes with an old Conn case in clean, solid condition. Buyer pays shipping.

As a licensed auctioneer, I sell a wide range of items but my expertise is in consumer electronics and antiques, so please bear with me if my description of items outside those areas are weaker. . I make every effort to treat others as I wish to be treated. Here are my rules and terms: I Guarantee items to match the description. Items that differ substantially from the description may be returned at buyer's expense for refund of BID price ONLY. Items that substantially match the description but NOT the buyer's expectations MAY NOT be returned. I make every effort to describe items accurately and completely and to be conservative in my claims. Some items, like auto stereo components may NOT be returned once the package has been opened and items described as NEW and that qualify for manufacturer's warranty may NOT be returned but should be delivered to manufacturer or manufacturer's authorized warranty service facility for repair in the event of failure during the warranty period. If you request it, I will furnish a retail bill of sale to support your warranty claim. I NEVER charge "handling charges" or any other bogus added fees or Sales Tax. My "shipping" charges DO include cost of packing material and are averaged so a few buyers pay less than my actual cost, and a few somewhat more. Shipping Charges for lower 48 by my choice of delivery method are quoted at the Bottom of the page. I assume buyer will be on the opposite coast when I estimate shipping and reserve the right to charge less if buyer is much closer. Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii are usually higher so please ask for quotation before bidding. Pickup:Item may be picked up at Interface, 660 Main Street, Keene, NH 03431 except in auctions of items so large or heavy that they are retained by the owner. In those cases, payment is made to me but pickup is from location of item. Location and instructions for getting there will be furnished to winner. If you Pick the item up NO shipping charges or sales tax will be due. Options: I prefer to ship lightweight items by mail and heavier items by UPS ground for lowest cost but will entertain requests to ship by other methods if buyer is willing to pay the additional cost. UPS requires a street address and will NOT deliver to a PO box so buyers lacking a street address may have to pay additional cost for delivery by mail. (and insurance, if desired) International shipments are usually shipped by parcel post (lowest cost) and buyer has the option of air or surface transport. Very lightweight items are always mailed via Air Mail. Postal rules limit weight and box size and vary by destination country, so some items MUST be shipped by commercial shipper. In those cases I utilize UPS. I'll be happy to quote shipping outside the lower 48 on request. Packing I pack professionally using sturdy cartons, padded envelopes, and ample quantities of foam peanuts and/or bubble wrap to insure that items I ship arrive undamaged and so have VERY few items damaged in shipping. I double box high value items to conceal the contents from prying eyes. When practical, I re-use packing materials in an effort to minimize environmental impact and keep material cost down. Postal insurance is expensive so I don't insure low value items (under $100) shipped by parcel post but UPS provides free insurance for the first hundred dollars value so I ALWAYS insure items shipped by UPS. I offer the option of insurance to international customers who request it and are willing to pay the additional cost. Payment Options I offer a wide range of payment options including: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover charge cards and PAYPAL (Both bank and card funded), EFT. EFT payment must be received at least 3 days prior to picking up item. If you have any questions about these terms, please call or email me. Customers in the United States and Canadian wishing to pay with a charge card, may call me with card information subject to the condition that the shipping address furnished MUST match the billing address for the card. I will NOT ship to an address differing from the billing address. International customers (except Canadians) must pay with either EFT or by PayPal. Of course, I accept US cash for items picked up but NOT for items shipped, in accordance with eBay rules. I do NOT accept COD orders. Items paid for with secured funds will normally be shipped on the 1st business day following receipt of funds. Items paid for by EFT will ship 3 days after receipt of funds by my bank. I am a Trading Assistant - I can sell items for you!

IMPORTANT TO INTERNATIONAL: You will need to check your country's Postal Regulations to see what service is required to be able to receive this instrument. While many countries will be able to receive this instrument via US Priority International, which is reasonably priced, some (Australia for example) would require the most expensive service (US Express Guaranteed) to accommodate a package of this size. PLEASE WAIT FOR INVOICE, as insurance must be figured and added in. This is an Olds Super trombone serial number 21756, made (according to fairly reliable charts) around 1947. The serial numbers match on the bell and slide sections. There is scarcely any lacquer left on the instrument. That said, the overall condition is very good+ and there appear to never have been any previous repairs. There is a very small, slight edge of the bell bend at 3 o'clock as you're playing the horn; there are a couple of bee-bee dings on the bell flare and an area of shallow marks that are consistent with a loose slide in a case; the very edge of the bottom receiver tube of the tuning slide has the tiniest ruffle (see photo- slide works fine); the handslide has no hitch in it but needs a cleaning; there is one minute and inconsequential ping (see photo of single stocking) on one slide stocking. This is a nice straight horn that needs very little work. There's no plating wear on the inner slide and the tubes in and out are straight. The case is not original; it's in pretty decent shape, smells a little musty but not stinky- definitely useable.

There are some rips in the fabric. We should also point out that the Pan American trombone comes in an Olds case. The trombone itself is dented and scratched like any used brass instrument. However, there is a distinct 'old' smell on this trombone. With some serious cleaning it may lose it's "old instrument" smell, but it's important to be aware of.
